Dancing Grounds (DG) brings inclusive and accessible dance programs to New Orleans’ residents of all ages and backgrounds. Working at the intersection of arts, education, and social justice, we use dance as a vehicle for developing young leaders, inspiring health and wellness, and advocating for social change. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
What Is The Showdown?
A So You Think You Can Dance style competition for youth and adults & fundraising extravaganza for DG youth programs.
Here’s how it works: dancers submit an audition video: youth dancers submit from May 15-June 30, 2020; adult dancers submit from July 1-31, 2020. A panel of judges review videos and select the top two finalists in each category. Then, we ask the public to vote online for two “wild card” contestants that will face off at the live event. In total, 16 dancers/dance groups will compete live on stage at the Civic Theatre on September 26, 2020.

We offer classes in all dance styles and love working with first-time dancers!
